WR-333 Wind Up Radio from Ambient Weather

The WR-333 wind up radio from Ambient-Weather is an amazing tool to have in your tool box if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation. Not only is it an emergency weather radio, it is also a flash light. The WR-333 wind up emergency radio is capable of charging cell phones and other USB devices. You can also charge your devices using AAA batteries, via the hand crank, or with the solar panel. The WR-333 radio is also capable of being fully charged via USB, AC, or DC, so you can have the internal batteries fully charged and ready before an emergency. The emergency radio itself is about 4 inches by 8 inches, making it very compact and easy to carry. The flashlight is 3 LEDs, with 15 lumens, which is bright enough for any emergency.  The handle also has a carabiner clip built in. The WR-333 is powered by an internal lithium ion battery, and is capable of charging most cell phones up to around 30% on a full charge. Using the hand crank on the wind up radio is also a good way to provide an emergency charge if the internal battery is drained.

The Ambient Weather WR-333 Wind up radio is convenient

Unlike other gadgets that use expensive and proprietary lithium batteries, the lithium ion battery used by the WR-333 wind up radio is widely available in most electronics stores, should you ever need a new one. This is a great feature, as it can be handy to have a spare, fully charged battery on hand for extended power outages. Being able to charge devices with AAA batteries is also a huge plus, as sometimes you will just completely drain the lithium battery, and using the hand crank can be a pain. One important thing to consider is that this emergency radio is not designed to charge your phone while you crank it. The power output of the wind up radio varies with the rate at which you crank, which could damage your phone if it is plugged in while you are trying to crank. The USB plug is purposely placed in front of the hand crank to prevent you from charging and cranking at the same time. Overall, the Ambient Weather WR-333 is a great emergency radio and back up power source for those emergency situations, and definitely a necessity after the recent hurricane season.
